What it is
A step up in gravity from ordinary bitter, with more malt depth and hop flavor but the same drinkable, bitter-finishing balance. English hops bring earthy and floral notes while the yeast adds light fruit. It still has to finish dry and ask for another pint.
Flavor
Earthy/woody and floral, with room for herbal, citrus or spice.
Grainy and caramel, with room for bready/biscuit, toasty, sweet/honey or nutty.
Clean and fruity esters.
