Before you use it
Far more potent per gram than baking soda — a careless scoop will overshoot badly, so weigh small and adjust. It is caustic: avoid breathing the dust and keep it out of the eyes.
Description
A strong alkali that raises pH while adding calcium and no sodium at all, which makes it the cleanest correction for a dark grist on soft water. Also used to decarbonate hard water by precipitating out bicarbonate.
