Before you use it
Rehydrate it in a little water for 15 minutes before use — dry flakes tossed into the kettle largely float and do nothing. Overdosing can strip so much protein that head retention suffers.
Description
Dried red seaweed whose carrageenan grabs hot-break protein and drags it into a tight cold break. The traditional kettle fining, and still the cheapest way to get bright wort into the fermenter.
